Chad Greenway

A native South Dakotan, professional NFL athlete Chad Greenway grew up on a hog and cattle farm where he learned the value of hard work, determination, and perseverance. Chad earned a scholarship to the University of Iowa where he starred as an All-American linebacker and four-year member of the Leadership Council.

Chad played his entire career of 11 seasons for the Minnesota Vikings, ranking fourth in franchise history with 1,334 tackles. In 2007, Chad was named the Vikings’ Ed Block Courage Award winner after returning from a season-ending knee injury suffered during his rookie season. An anchor of the Vikings defense for over a decade, the 2006 first-round pick earned two Pro Bowl selections and was named team defensive MVP three times in his career.

Chad has been praised as much for his off-field community service as his on-field ferocity. He established the Lead the Way Foundation which enriches the lives of individuals and families in need. Rising from a small town of 350 people to being a team captain and leader, Chad was named Vikings Community Man of the Year for four consecutive years for his philanthropic efforts.

As a professional athlete, Chad learned valuable concepts and characteristics of being team first. Employing the lessons learned from his early days on his family farm to his successful career as a NFL team leader, Chad shares the tools and mentality it takes to get to the highest level of achievement in a career and the against-all-odds story of determination, proving that dedication to a craft can bring success.

Chad speaks on the topics of business, leadership, teamwork, and success. His clients include the Mayo Clinic, South Dakota Corn Growers, First Premier Bank, South Dakota Bankers Association, and DTN/Progressive Farmer. Chad is founder and President of Lead the Way Foundation and a partner in several small businesses, including Gray Duck Spirits. Chad and his wife, Jenni, are the parents of four lovely daughters.
